The child within

We exude strength when at our weakest

We assume the best when at our worst

We laugh when all we want to do is weep

We lie awake when all we want to do is sleep
We walk the walk and talk the talk

We’re expected to, ain’t that obvious?

We say the right things, do right deeds

We’re expected to, ain’t that obvious?
Who’s to ask – what’s going on

In that mind of yours?

Who’s to challenge you? You’re on your own!

Who dare come close? We might bite

Who can judge what’s wrong, what’s right?
There’s a child within us

That looks for endorsement

That looks for courage

To take that step; that leap
There’s a child within us

That’s lost, unhappy, scared

That smiles, laughs, cries

And forever tries…

To present a joy it doesn’t feel

To nod a yes when it wants to negate

To look brave when it wants to cringe

To smile away the pain and accept its fate.

My friend – my mirror

I don’t need to know all about you

You don’t need to know all about me

There’s something in you that resonates within me

Something emotional, something intellectual, something spiritual

You – your words, your images, strike some chord

In thin, nearly indistinguishable lines, in strokes broad

Let me reach in and identify it

I might strike a chord, a plaintive note that jars and awakens something within you

Help you see a more evolved you

Who knows? It might even mirror me?

Moral Compass

Rambling rant of randomness. But seriously, who gives a rat’s ass about morality these days? Oh! All of you do? Yay!! Now go… fly kites!

I hail from a country that boasts about culture and agriculture. I see less and less of either now. In fact, I must make a mental note to look for them under the measly bushels that only dot the horizons. Heck! I might even have to go looking for those bushels in the first place.

That can wait for the moment. We talk of social media; of connections. We talk of living in a society where we revere god-men and yoga gurus; the pundits and wise men that preach about saving rivers and trees and the environment.
Why do we listen to these people? Because they’re all over social media. Because they spout wisdom. Because we are imbeciles that can’t gather all this information from just looking beyond our own comfort zones.
We react to something someone posts on the media. Why can’t we post what’s playing on our minds? Why do we need anyone to endorse what we believe in?
We have our own set of principles. We all have a conscience (I’ve always wondered about that word – is there a word like proscience?)
And, therefore, we have a moral compass. It tells us when we veer off-course. Of course, we must remember that we believe in ourselves first. We know we are good. All we need to do is follow-through. Let the hordes find their own.
